Xiaoran Wu received her bachelor degree from University of Melbourne, with a major in Actuarial Studies. She then pursued a master degree in actuarial studies from the University of New South Wales. She has successfully passed Part I and Part II from Institute of Actuaries of Australia (IAA).

In the summer of 2016, Xiaoran interned at Amex, within the global risk oversight team. During the internship, she leveraged her programming and time series knowledge to help build an automated testing and monitoring system for risk management.

Prior to joining Cornell, Xiaoran worked as an actuarial analyst for 2.5 years at Aon in Sydney, Australia. Her work focused on providing advice to insurance companies regarding risk transfer mechanism, capital optimization, products pricing and model evaluation. She has gained valuable experience not only in building sophisticated quantitative models, but also communicating with clients in an intuitive way.

As a member of the debating team at University of Melbourne, she has won several championships in university competitions and statewide tournaments. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the piano, dancing, and travelling.

Upon graduation, Xiaoran is eager to pursue a career in asset management, sales and trading or risk management.
