Biography

MEng Concentration: Applied Operations

Xiaocong Wang received her bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and master’s degree in automation from Beijing (Northern) Jiaotong University in China with distinction. Xiaocong and her team won the Meritorious Reward in the Interdisciplinary Contest of Modeling of U.S. in 2008, which fully motivated her desire for using analytical methods to solving real world busi- ness problems.

She served as a research intern at the Siemens IT Service and Solutions, where her team made considerable breakthroughs in the field of KPI Performance Measurement and IT Service Sched- ule Software tools, which won the National Competition of IE Applications in the Manufacturing and Service Industry. During her graduate studies, she keep focusing on applying analytical and programming skills to the research projects, i.e. Manufacturing Execution System Implementa- tion for Metallurgical Company in China and devising optimal distribution network system at the Research Institute of the Highway Ministry of Communication.

Her cumulative and broad-based research background has now prepared her fully and confidently to apply her quantitative analytical ability in areas such as supply chain management and strategy development after graduation from Cornell.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, yoga and traveling.
