Sagar Bhanage joined the Operations Research Master of Engineering Program at Cornell University in August 2013. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in May 2010 from the NITK Surathkal, a top Indian engineering school.

Sagar has about three years of full-time work experience with India’s National Oil Company, the Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). During this period, he has shouldered both technical and managerial responsibilities, having worked first as an electrical field engineer on a drilling rig and then as a member of the procurement and contracting cell of drilling services. In both these roles, he was able to use data analysis and systems engineering concepts to bring about significant improvements in processes flows and reductions in cycle times. These two job assignments have given him a macro perspective of the project management, sourcing, order and contract management, inventory control and disposal processes in a large-scale industrial setting.

Sagar has a Six Sigma Green Belt from KPMG and is passionate about operations and business process improvement. He is an avid reader and a fast learner; he speaks four languages and spends an indefensible amount of time reading fantasy fiction.
