Ellen Patridge applied to the Master of Engineering program at Cornell University with a concentration in Applied Operations Research in the fall of her senior year. She will wrap up her B.S. in Operations Research and Engineering in spring 2015 while starting work for the M.Eng program, graduating in December 2015.

Ellen’s passion for operational improvement shows in her distribution internship with Ball Horticultural Company. Here she worked on changes to optimize inventory layout, focusing on pick time and replenishment, while improving how they track these changes. She demonstrated strong communication skills by working directly with supervisors and employees to support and implement these changes. She recognized the importance of having a culture of change, and worked with supervisors to foster an open environment for all workers to voice opinions and help with improvements.

In her free time Ellen can be found at sporting events on campus playing with the Big Red Band or working with the Cornell Indoor Drumline. Between these musical activities she has held multiple leadership roles, including treasurer, pit captain and president for the Indoor program. Her experiences with leadership and teamwork from these groups have been invaluable to her personal and professional development.
