Biography

Daniel Southern joined the Master of Engineering program at Cornell University in the fall of 2012 with a concentration in Applied Operations Research and a minor in Systems Engineering. He continues working on his Six Sigma project and is anticipated to earn his Black Belt by the end of 2012. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Operations Research and Information Engineering from Cornell University.

After completing his bachelor’s, Daniel worked for one and a half years as a Mechanical and Life Safety consultant in New York City for M.G. Engineering. Daniel leveraged his technical and simulation background to help design Fire Alarm, Sprinkler, Mechanical, and Life Safety systems. Noteworthy projects include a 33 floor 700 unit apartment complex and an 11 floor school and residential building where he lead the Fire Alarm and Sprinkler drafting teams.

During his undergraduate Daniel completed an internship with Boca Raton Community Hospital in their Radiology department under Dr. Kathy Schilling to review current process maps and risk analysis.

With formal and informal training as a chef, PADI certified Scuba Diver, AFF certified Sky Diver, Wilderness First Aid, and a Tang Soo Do black belt Daniel is always excited to embrace new countries and experiences.
