Weimeng (Sharon) Yang received her BMath degree with distinction in statistics and applied mathematics from the University of Waterloo in 2009. During undergraduate study she worked on a simulation project for Applied Mathematics Department, where she constructed and tested wave models and earned Undergraduate Student Research Award in Canada.

Upon graduation she interned at the Special Investments Department of China Investment Corporation, China’s sovereign wealth fund, where she developed a career understanding in commodity investment and also got a deep and wide exposure in energy and green industry. Weimeng has engaged in two major energy projects by participating in due diligence and constructing financial models.

To pursue a more finance-oriented role, she went to Cornell University in 2010 for a master degree with concentration in financial engineering. She has particular interests in fixed income securities and related derivatives. She also has passed CFA Level I exam.
