Thomas Byuen is to complete both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering in Operations Research & Engineering from Cornell University by December 2011. (8 semesters of studies)

As an undergraduate, he has participated in a co-op program with General Electric for seven months within Lean Six Sigma. He learned various statistical and quality management methods that are needed to optimally run business processes and eliminate variability and waste. He received his Six Sigma Green Belt certification during his time there.

Thomas has also interned at Ernst and Young in its Transaction Advisory Services division. He was part of the rapidly growing commercial advisory practice, which focuses on deals involved in mergers, acquisitions and asset disposals. He learned various methodologies in market sizing and valuing commercial assets, whilst gaining exposure to regular client interaction (both private equity and corporate).

Thomas has gained an immense interest in the financial markets over his undergraduate years, and has thus decided to pursue an M.Eng in Financial Engineering. Along with this degree, Thomas believes that his experiences across both operations and consulting will provide a solid foundation for him to grow and succeed in a wide variety of quantitative finance roles.
