Linjiang (Robby) Fan earned his bachelor’s degree in materials science and engineering as well as finance from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2013.

During the winter holiday in 2012, he was selected to be an intern in MassMutual Financial Group of Hong Kong. Working there, he witnessed how finance affected people’s life, which further stimulated him to learn the financial engineering and master more specialized and practical skills as a preparation to provide financial service and convenience to people.

And in the summer of 2012, he worked as a research institution & investment banking department intern in Zheshang Securities in Shanghai. During his internship, he worked as a research assistant and did lots of equity research. Also, he joined the team in a project focusing on issuing corporate private bonds. Both work made him aware of the strength of capital markets.

Linjiang decided to join in-depth Master’s program in Financial Engineering at Cornell to gain the frontier knowledge and innovative way of thinking and to enhance his quantitative analysis skills. Upon graduation, he intends to seek a career in trading, risk management, asset management or equity research to make full use of his strong analytical skills.
