Kherlen initially developed her interest in Operations Research during her time at Raiffeisen Bank International in Vienna, where she interned in the rating models and validation department. After returning to Cornell, she worked on estimating lost retail demand in the airline industry under the supervision of a professor from the School of Operations Research and Information Engineering. In the interest of widening her range of knowledge, Kherlen interned in the leasing department of Sino Land, one of the largest property-development companies in Hong Kong.
