Kevin Ko graduated from the University of Chicago in 2012 with a BA in mathematics and a minor in physics. Originally focused in pre-medicine, he realized he was fascinated by how mathematical modeling can be used to describe complex phenomena and make accurate predictions. His experiences have further focused his interest on using Analytics to make strategic decisions.

Kevin has experience in public policy research and in using analytics to set health policy goals. These experiences informed and focused his interest in analytics. For example, during his time at the Illinois Governor's Office of Health Information Technology, he analyzed data on all the pharmacies in Illinois, communicated his findings in a white paper, and developed methods to speed up the data processing in the future.

He chose Operations Research because it is a rapidly growing field poised to change how we understand the world as exciting ways to analyze Big data emerge. He chose Operations Research at Cornell because it is a program nationally recognized for its rigor, which also focuses on professional development in a curriculum centered on goal-oriented projects.

Kevin is interested in management consulting and in business analytics, where he hopes to continue his quantitative work.
