Charles Hernandez received his Bachelors of Science degree in Material Science and Engineering from Cornell University in May 2012. He graduated with a concentration in Nanotechnology as well as a minor in Applied Mathematics. During his time at Cornell he played soccer on the Cornell Arsenal Club Soccer Team, he was a tutoring team leader for the Upward Bound and Reach tutoring programs, he helped re-design and TA MSE 3070: Material Design Concepts I and he served on the Executive Board of Acacia Fraternity.

During his time as an undergraduate, Charles supplemented his Material Science degree with courses in all 11 Engineering majors. In doing so he was able to identify an affinity for Operations Research which resulted in his application and acceptance into the ORIE Masters of Engineering Program.

Charles’ experiences and education has allowed him to develop his ability to work in teams, communicate complicated concepts clearly and effectively, solve problems without clear solutions and to lead groups during the implementation of those solutions. He hopes to leverage these skills in a professional setting after graduation.

Charles spends his free time playing soccer, working out, following his favorite sports teams and hiking.
