David Clay Heath, a member of the ORIE faculty for more than twenty years, died in Rochester, NY on August 11. Heath retired in 2006 from Carnegie Mellon University, where he was the Orion Hoch Professor of Mathematical Sciences. Read more
Sheldon Jacobson, ORIE Ph.D. '88, has broad academic affiliations. In an article in OR/MS Today he urges that the profession of Operations Research follow ORIE's lead and define itself as encompassing information engineering. Read more
Mark Lewis, who joined ORIE as an Associate Professor in 2005, has been promoted to Professor. Lewis received a Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology. He does theoretical and applied work in several areas, with an emphasis on queuing systems. Read more
