Having gone through the process of having to work with organizations, there are some key lessons you learn and they're not easily picked up from any kind of book. It's sort of, hard knocks, you know. I worked in industry for five years. Having a feeling for how people think in industry and what kinds of analyzes are appropriate and are beneficial for people in industry I find-- that really helps both in the project teams and in the classroom.

I've been working on Wall Street for the past 20 years. Well, I want to teach at Cornell because I want to pay it forward. I remember the struggles that I had going through school and I'm trying to smooth the path to learning for students so they don't have to go through all of the dead ends and wrong turns that I went through.

They're really passionate about the material that they're teaching and the students that they're teaching. And they want to know what your interests are. And they want to know that you're understanding the material. And if you're not, they really want to help you. If you walk down the hall in Rhodes, their doors are almost always open. They're always happy to talk to students.
