Students pick Jackson and Topaloglu as Teachers of the Year, Zhou as TA of the Year
Cornell INFORMS announced ORIE Professors Jackson and Topaloglu and CAM Ph.D. student Zhengyi Zhou are Teachers and TA of the Year, respectively.
At a "social banquet," Jennifer Shih, President of the Cornell chapter of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), announced that OR professors Peter Jackson and Huseyin Topaloglu share this year's Teacher of the Year Award. Center for Applied Math Ph.D. student Zhengyi (Jenny) Zhou is Teaching Assistant of the year.
In fall 2012, Jackson taught "Design of Manufacturing Systems," and he taught "Industrial Data and Systems Analysis" in spring 2013. Topaloglu taught "Simulation Modeling and Analysis." Zhou was teaching assistant in "Probability and Statistics II" in fall 2012 and "Stochastic Processes I" in spring 2013.
At a luncheon the following day, students Amanda Gordon, Manita Herlitz-Ferguson, Heejoon Jung, Justin Lee, Mark Li, Yiwei Li, Caitlin O’Donnell, Julie Putzak, Kevin Qui, Jack Robbins, Leah Seligman, and Jennifer Shih were inducted into Omega Rho, the international honor society for operations research and management science, sponsored by INFORMS. Cornell's Omega Rho chapter was established in 1995.
