New York Times says Cornell is "building a better tech school"

"Just 13 months after being awarded the prize ... Cornell NYC Tech got up and running."

Image removed. An extensive article in the New York Times Education section published on April 14 featured the inaugural "beta" class at Cornell NYC Tech, which started up earlier this year in temporary quarters at space in the Chelsea district of Manhattan donated by Google. The illustration above, by Viktor Koen, accompanied the article.

While the program for the pioneering students described in the article is tied to computer science, ORIE has received approval from New York State to offer its own Master of Engineering degree at Cornell Tech.

Like the ORIE M.Eng. program in Ithaca, the ORIE Cornell Tech M.Eng. program will feature team-based projects to solve real problems for real industry sponsors.

According to ORIE Director Adrian Lewis, "ORIE is actively recruiting faculty for the NYC Tech program."

A companion article in the Times Education section describes Cornell's Tech's academic partner, the Technion.
