Biography

Zhanyang Xue graduated from Penn State University with B.S. in energy business and finance (High Distinction) and B.S. in energy engineering (High Distinction) in May 2013. As the teaching assistant for a financial derivatives course, he presented the impacts of financial markets on the price of crude oil and cocoa futures during class. He also managed the cocoa hedging and crude oil speculating competitions and held office hours for 100 students.

During the Equity Research internship for CITIC Securities in 2012, Zhanyang supported traders’ decisions by extracting Bloomberg data to research and analyze the operating indicators of utilities and environmental corporations. As weekly tasks, he drafted internally published reviews of environmental sector in light of Asian economic policies and performance. He also developed and maintained a stock valuation model for Shenyang Jinshan Energy Co., Ltd. as the final project.

In order to enhance his technical background and understanding of financial market, Zhanyang joined the Master of Engineering program at Cornell University with concentration of Financial Engineering in 2013. Zhanyang expects to pursue a career in risk management or trading upon graduation.

In his spare time, Zhanyang enjoys playing pokers, golf, and traveling.
