Tianwei Zhang joins the Operations Research Master of Engineering program at Cornell University in August 2013. He holds a B.S. in applied mathematics and statistics from Johns Hopkins University.

With a passion in optimization and programing, Tianwei started a research project at the Johns Hopkins Hospital to help cardiologists evaluate the risks of blood blockage. He built simulation models for blood flow in coronary artery, and analyzed simulation data to draw new insights on blockage treatment. His research results contribute significantly to an ongoing research paper. Tianwei’s extensive research experience and his technical background have prepared him to be a self-starter and to answer hard questions with statistical tools.

Tianwei is passionate about technology, particularly in consumer electronics. In his spare time, he frequently visits crowd-funding platforms such as kickstarter.com.
