Biography

Sonia received her bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering with a minor in management from the National University of Singapore.

As part of her research project on geographic analytics, she developed a structured guide to the role of maps as a basis for strategic decision-making, with business applications ranging from supply chain to emergency preparedness. During her senior year, she also served as a student consultant on a hospital utilization and resource improvement design project. Her work involved conceptualizing performance framework to capture and tackle variations and uncertainties in healthcare services.

Sonia strongly believes in learning by doing and has gained diverse industry exposure through internships. While interning at Nestlé, she gained valuable experience in continuous improvement through Six Sigma projects. Her role as a manufacturing support intern involved developing global standards by identifying best practices, and examining sources of waste that translated to cost savings. Before that, she interned at Deutsche Bank as a Compliance intern and KPMG as a Tax intern.

Passionate about bridging the gap between the technical and the business, Sonia looks forward to pursuing a career in consulting and supply chain where she can apply statistical, optimization and problem-solving skills to bring actionable intelligence to businesses.
