SiCong graduated from Cornell University in 2011, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Operations Research. During his years there, he gained a solid foundation in financial mathematics, various programming languages as well as finance.

SiCong first developed a passion for trading energy derivatives during his time at SINOPEC, a Chinese government-owned corporation responsible for the flow of oil and related products in China. Working alongside traders who performed some of the biggest deals in the market of crude oil, he came to enjoy the competitiveness of the energy market and went on to trade crudes personally.

After his undergraduate studies, SiCong found it only natural to continue his studies in the Financial Engineering program at Cornell University. He viewed the ORIE undergraduate program and the Financial Engineering Masters of Engineering program as two halves of a beautiful artwork: while both are exquisite and valuable on their own, only together could their true beauties be appreciated. He firmly believes that the graduate program will further enhancement his knowledge in financial mathematics and help him better model and price derivatives.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball, hockey, swimming and biking.
