Sanju Maliakal received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Mumbai, India. Prior to joining Cornell’s Financial Engineering program, he worked with Infosys Limited in India for two years and at Centaurus Financial Services Pvt. Ltd, a proprietary trading firm in Mumbai as a Futures Trader for 9 months.

At Infosys, he worked as a Software Developer and as a Business Analyst in the capital markets domain. The dynamism and fast pace of the financial markets fascinated him. He independently conceived and developed trading strategies on the Indian equity market. Pursuing his interests in trading he joined Centaurus, where he actively traded Futures on the European and American exchanges implementing various hedged short term trading strategies.

The coursework and projects at Cornell’s Financial Engineering program has equipped Sanju with a sound quantitative knowledgebase, enhanced his knowledge of finance and derivatives and built his financial modeling ability. During the summer of 2014, he interned with Citibank’s Risk Management group giving him a broader perspective of the structure of the global capital markets as well as sharpening his programming skills.

In his spare time, Sanju loves to play soccer and is always up for a game of chess!
