Stella Zhao is pursuing a Master of Engineering at Cornell University in Applied Operations Research Concentration. She recently graduated from University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering and a Minor in Applied Mathematics. She possesses a particular interest in system optimization and process improvement. Her senior project applied simulation modeling and analysis to optimize the UPS carwash process, and created a Master Operating Plan for UPS Northwest District. The Boeing projects, focusing on logistics and decision-making, that she has taken part in has also enriched her experience in manufacturing operations.

Stella served as a treasurer in Institute of Industrial Engineers UW chapter and organized many student activities to build connections between students, faculty and industry. She was also a facilitator at Foundation for International Understanding Through Students.

In her leisure time, Stella enjoys outdoor adventures such as hiking, skiing and travelling. Playing the piano, learning guitar and German are also some of the relaxations she favors.
