Clara Ong received her bachelor’s degree in Industrial and System Engineering (Honors with Distinction) and her business minor from the National University of Singapore.

As a student consultant with SingHealth, Singapore’s largest healthcare cluster, she developed data visualization dashboards featuring standardized KPIs on the utilization of operating theaters. These dashboards were distributed to over 200 C-suite executives, administrators and heads of departments across three hospitals, to improve resource efficiency and transparency across all organizational levels. The dashboards received very high praise from the C-suite leaders and the Ministry of Health.

At the Singapore General Hospital, she cleaned and analyzed data, evaluated process flows and developed a simulation model to convince senior management to expand its use of digital pathology, which would reduce clerical workload by 55%. She earned commendation from two department heads for her value-add to the medical field using a non-medical approach. She was thus invited to draft a research paper, which is now being edited for publication.

Clara is eager to pursue a career in consulting upon graduation, where she can use her statistical, simulation and visualization skills to propose business recommendations.

In her spare time, Clara enjoys journalistic writing, hoping to inspire others through human interest stories.
