Kaiyu Zhao received his bachelor’s degree in international affairs and economics from George Washington University.

Kaiyu first developed interest in finance from an early age when his father, who worked for the first security company in his hometown, took him to see the trading hall. In the 2008 financial crisis, Kaiyu was curious about what caused the crisis and why derivatives had such a powerful effect on global markets. In his academic years, Kaiyu acquired quantitative methodologies and analytical skills and he is eager to apply his knowledge to further his interest in Finance.

Involvement in different finance-related topics has been a constant theme throughout his academic career. In projects and events, he has analyzed alpha trading strategies in portfolio and foreign exchange risk management strategies. In his recent research, he investigated market microstructure and its effect on optimal trading strategies in stock.

During his participation in PRMIA Risk Management Challenge, as a team member, Kaiyu contributed his finance insights successfully delivering a case analysis presentation that earned top three in the New York region. As the vice president of communications at the Chinese Culture Association, Kaiyu planned semiannual events and maintained contact and cooperation with other student organization.
