Haitao completed his B.Eng degree in electrical and electronic engineering with minor in computing from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and the M.Eng degree in Materials Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
During undergraduate study, he received the president research scholarship and published two papers in the area of circuit simulation. He was also a varsity basketball player. While at MIT, he teamed with 3 graduate students to work with A123 Systems on implementing electric vehicle systems in Singapore. To evaluate economical benefits of the project, he applied discounted cash flow models and quantified CO2 trading price for the project to break even.
Having been motivated by the spirit of entrepreneurship, he deepened his interests in finance through internships at a private equity firm where he leveraged his quantitative skills in the company valuation analysis. Currently, he is a portfolio analyst at Hilltop Capital a subsidiary of the Cayuga Fund which manages over $15million capital. He is applying quantitative models and fundamental analysis for stock pitches and valuation.
Upon graduation from Cornell’s financial engineering program, Haitao is looking forward to work in the financial service industry. He completed his CFA level I on the first attempt in June 2010.
