Fengyi (Shelton) Xie earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and finance from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2012. He studied at Columbia University for the summer in 2011 in China Young Development Program, earning the top scholarship.

During his internship in J.P.Morgan China, Fengyi developed a keen interest in both the financial markets and the self-regulations of financial firms. As a compliance intern, he conducted an impact analysis of the then new compliance regulations issued by China Banking Regulatory Commission. He also performed a preliminary background research on a potential business loan client, including field investigations, industry expert’s interviews and comprehensive data analysis. Seeing the opportunities beyond the client itself, Fengyi went on to draft a report discussing feasibility of expanding cooperation to its parent corporation. He also interned at China Construction Bank to enrich his professional experience.

After his undergraduate study Fengyi decided to join the Financial Engineering program at Cornell University in order to enhance his analytical skills and leverage his mathematical background with quantitative finance. With strong quantitative and communication skills, Fengyi hopes to obtain a position in sales and trading, risk management or quantitative research in finance upon graduation.

In his spare time, Fengyi enjoys music, travelling and photography.
