Dimitri Avramov graduated Summa Cum Laude from the American University in Bulgaria where he completed a B.A. in Mathematics and a B.A. in Economics. While an undergraduate, Dimitri held teaching assistant positions in mathematics and economics. He completed a degree thesis on Credit Risk Price Discovery and earned a place to present his research at the Carroll Round Conference in Georgetown University.

In the summer of 2011, Dimitri interned at the Market Risk department of MKB Unionbank, subsidiary of Bayern LB. He was responsible for the calculation and backtesting of daily VaR and performance of the trading and the available for sale portfolios. Dimitri also analyzed the bank’s FX, interest rate and liquidity risks.

Dimitri decided to join the Financial Engineering program at Cornell University due to his strong interest in finance and flair in quantitative disciplines. He successfully passed the CFA Level I exam in June 2011 and intends to pursue the CFA Charter. Upon graduation, Dimitri will be seeking a role within the financial services industry.
