Chenwei Ma graduated from Peking University in July 2012 with a B.A. degree in finance and a B.S. degree in statistics. Strong interest in finance and mathematics contributed to her passion for financial engineering.

As an undergraduate, Chenwei interned at the shipping finance department in head office of Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, where she built a financial appraisal model to estimate return and risk of loan projects. She also got a chance to manage stock portfolios through internship at the personal finance department of Guangfa Securities Co. in China. Increased practical experience deepened her understanding of financial markets and her own advantages, further motivated her to enter financial industry as an engineer, and led to her decision of choosing Cornell’s MEng in Financial Engineering program to enrich her knowledge of quantitative finance and strengthen her technical skills.
