Alex Nagle joined Cornell University’s School of Operations Research and Information Engineering in August 2014 to pursue a master’s degree in engineering, specializing in data analytics.

Prior to his matriculation, Alex was employed as an analyst for a global healthcare marketing research and strategic consulting firm, where he worked with small teams to conduct qualitative and quantitative research projects across several continents.  Due to the small size of the company, Alex’s responsibilities were varied, ranging from recording live in-patient surgical procedures to utilizing conjoint analysis for pricing studies and creating custom data acquisition and cleaning tools.

In addition to his work as a Marketing Research Analyst, Alex also worked for an insurance startup company working on data analysis and product development.  He created and oversaw the implementation of sensor-based telematics software.

Despite his affinity for computer based work, Alex enjoys spending time outdoors whenever possible, preferably with his wife and dog.  He is an avid snowboarder, having served as a volunteer Ski Patroller for fifteen years.  Alex also holds a 100-ton Coast Guard Master’s License, and has accumulated over 15,000 miles of open-ocean sailing experience.
