Ph.D. Alum Singh Recognized as a Supply Chain "Pro to Know"

The Supply and Demand Chain Executive magazine has designated Harpal Singh, Ph.D. '81 as a supply chain industry thought leader.

In selecting Harpal Singh, Ph.D. '81 as a "Provider Pro to Know," Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine noted that he is a "pioneer in supply chain planning, having developing a software solution now used in more than 150 global supply chain planning applications." According to the magazine, "Dr. Singh continues to move toward 'next-generation' supply chain planning, helping organizations reduce the cost and risk involved in implementing these solutions." The editors write that "he believes the next-generation of supply chain planning [software] supports company-wide collaboration as the basis for business success."

Singh is co-Founder of Supply Chain Consultants, a software and consulting company based in Wilmington, Del. and Antwerp, Belgium.  For 11 years, Supply Chain Consultants has sponsored a fellowship awarded to an incoming ORIE Master of Engineering student.  The fellowship recognizes individuals with "excellent technical preparation, enthusiasm for applying knowledge to solve technical problems, ability to think creatively and execute decisively, and interest in the impact of technology on society." The fellowship is in honor of emeritus professor William L. Maxwell, BME '56 Ph.D. '61, who retired in 1998.
