Bio: Jackie Baek is a Ph.D. student in the Operations Research Center at MIT, where she is advised by Prof. Vivek Farias. Broadly, she is interested in developing methodologies for decision-making problems under uncertainty, focusing on bridging the gap between theory and practice. Baek is particularly interested in the problem of algorithmic fairness. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo, where she majored in computer science and combinatorics and optimization. During her studies, Baek has had the opportunity to intern at several tech companies including Dropbox, Snap, Bloomberg, and Grail.
