The School of Operations Research and Information Engineering (ORIE) welcomed new students in the Financial Engineering Masters Concentration Aug. 16 at an orientation session designed to quickly immerse students in the real world of financial services.
The session began at ORIE’s campus, two blocks from the New York Stock Exchange, with talks on equity markets, information systems, enterprise risk and fixed income careers by Mark Zurack, MBA ’80, Alan Rosenthal ’59, BEE ’60, Roger Lang and Victoria Averbukh, Ph.D. ‘97, the recently named director of Financial Engineering Manhattan for ORIE. The group of more than 40 students and faculty visited Lehman Brothers headquarters for talks by Lehman executives (including Bob Drbul, MBA ’97) on equity research, equity quantitative analytics, automated equity market making and structured portfolio financing.
